The games of Brain and Nerd

What We Do

Brain and Nerd is a game development studio based within NI game studio accelerator The Pixel Mill. We are a small studio that makes big games, specialising in procedural generation and solid mechanics.

We create games that we want to play

As longtime gamers and bloggers, the Brain and Nerd directorate is well-placed to spot emerging industry trends and create games that PC gamers actually want to play.

We actively engage with our customers

We believe that customer-led development is the key to successful indie game development. We adapt our design and mechanics to suit our playerbase.

We support others in pursuing this career

Brain and Nerd has two STEM Ambassadors in-house and often hosts work experience and placements. We also give advice to similar start-up businesses.

Our Games

Our first title, Predestination, is a turn-based 4X strategy game for PC that's now available on Steam. We are currently working on a survival sandbox game named Hortalius and an office management sim called INC.ubator.

INCubator is a tongue-in-cheek office management simulator game that is in the style of Two Point Hospital but is set in the booming startup sector.

Hortalius is a sandbox survival with a deep mystery narrative and a unique visual scope.

Predestination is a turn-based 4X space strategy game for PC, now available on Steam.

Predestination won the DANI Awards Gaming and Animation Project of the Year in 2013 following its successful Kickstarter campaign.

DANI Awards

Brain and Nerd's premiere title Predestination won the NI Game Awards Game of the Year 2018 award. Additionally, Directors Brendan Drain and Tina Lauro Pollock jointly won the NI Game Awards Community award.
